Ideas for Celebrating New Year’s Eve with Kids
New Year’s Eve often feels like an adult holiday, but we can make New Year’s Eve family-friendly too. There are so many ways to host a New Year’s Eve celebration for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of my favorite kid-friendly ways to ring in the New Year:
Noon Countdown
Counting down to the New Year at noon rather than midnight can be so much easier than trying to keep cranky little ones awake for festivities at the end of the night. Plus, a noon countdown opens the door for teachers to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the classroom. Lesson plans for the holiday are easy with FREE printable New Year’s Eve coloring pages to enjoy together.
Ice Cream Floats
Toasting the New Year with ice cream floats is way more fun than a champagne toast! You can grab fun plastic cups that glow in the dark and silly straws to make your floats even more exciting this New Year’s Eve.
Balloon Drop
If your little learners won’t make it to the big ball drop, consider a balloon drop instead. Setting up a balloon drop in the classroom or your living room is easy and lots of fun!
Free New Year’s Eve Coloring Pages
Color-by-number printables are always a huge hit with preschool students! That’s why I wanted to make some free New Year’s Eve coloring sheets you could use at home or in the classroom for the big day. Coloring pages are excellent for fine motor skills practice, developing critical thinking, and building concentration.
As your students reveal the hidden images in these New Year’s Eve color-by-number and color-by-letter pages, they’ll be building strong finger muscles, learning about color, and problem-solving too. Did I mention these printables are tons of fun too?
Plus, you can use these New Year’s Eve coloring pages to teach kids to identify numbers and letters as they choose which color to use for each number or letter. In the end, they’ll have some very cute New Year’s Eve images to share with family and friends!
