Presidents Day Activities for Preschoolers
Presidents Day activities are a fun way for kids to learn about some of the most historic people in our nation.
In Texas, our state standards require teachers to teach preschoolers and Kindergarteners about the importance of Presidents Day and people such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
If you’re looking for a fun way to include a bit of history into your lessons, keep reading because I’ve developed the best Presidents Day activities for preschoolers and kids to do this February.
President’s Day Activities for Kids
Presidents Day Easy Reader Books
Since this is probably your students first introduction to presidents such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, it’s important to build upon their schema. I love to do this with my Presidents Day easy reader books.
These preschool President’s Day books would be a great learning experience for your kids as they read along and learn about the two historical figures.
This activity also comes with an optional cut and paste time line that would make a great assessment or fine motor practice!
If you want an emergent reader geared more towards Presidents Day instead of a specific president, look no further!
This easy reader is perfect for learning about the big holiday and important American symbols and buildings.
Presidents Day Worksheet
After your students read and learn about the big day, they can complete a fun Presidents Day worksheet to show what they know.
Your students will love illustrating or writing about the different facts they learned in the emergent readers.
Presidents Day Virtual Tour
This year I’m planning to show my kids a virtual tour of the White House and Mount Vernon as we explore where our past and present Presidents live.
I’ve done a quick look around on both of these sites and it is very user friendly and such a neat experience for our little ones!
Presidents Day Coloring Pages
If you’re looking for something to pass the time or to assess your children on quick letter and number recognition, these Presidents Day coloring pages are sure to be a hit! Simply check the key and color by code to see which president you will create!
Toddler Presidents Day Activity
Being able to match an object one to one is a vital skill for toddlers and preschoolers. This fun matching activity is the perfect way to build on this skill and teach your students about the presidents.
Presidents Day Directed Drawing
Directed drawings are always such a hit in the classroom, no matter how old the kids are.
I love how easy the step by step instructions for directed drawing activities can be for children and the masterpieces that come out of them.
This activity teaches kid how to draw George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump successfully. It comes with:
- Abraham Lincoln directed drawing
- George Washington directed drawing
- Joe Biden directed drawing
- Donald Trump directed drawing
- Step by step instructions on how to draw both of the presidents
- 2 different worksheets to record your work

I think it’s safe to say that every teacher loves a cute bulletin board. Some of my students favorite work to see hanging up in the hallway are these adorable Presidents Day crafts.
I know these Presidents Day crafts for preschoolers will give you some easy bulletin board ideas for February.
George Washington Craft
This George Washington craft is a great way for your students to highlight everything they’ve learned this week about the president.
Have your students write about George Washington and why he is an important historical figure for our country.
This Presidents Day craftivity comes with 3 different writing pages (1 line, 2 lines, and a full page) so you can differentiate for your students.
Abraham Lincoln Craft
Honest Abe did so much during his presidency. Your students will love pretending that they were Abraham Lincoln for the day and writing about what all they accomplished with this Presidents Day craftivity.
This activity comes with 3 different writing pages (1 line, 2 lines, and a full page) so you can differentiate for your students.
Flag Tear Art Craft
Tear art is one of my favorite craft ideas for toddlers and preschoolers. It’s simple enough for little hands and always turns out so stinkin’ cute!
To create this Presidents Day art:
- Grab the template from my Presidents Day activities pack
- Tear construction paper in tiny squares
- Glue the paper on the flag template
- Once it’s dry, add star stickers to finish it off.
Presidents Day Masks for Kids
Of course masks are always a hit with the little ones as well as well. These Presidents Day crafts will definitely be fun for your kids to create.
To make these George Washington and Abraham Lincoln paper plate crafts you’ll need to gather some supplies such as:
- Paper plates
- Cotton balls
- Construction paper
- Jumbo craft sticks
If you don’t have jumbo crafts sticks you can find them at Hobby Lobby or grab them here on Amazon. I used the regular size popsicle sticks at first and the masks definitely weren’t as sturdy, but if it’s all you have they will do too!
Presidents Day Books
I like to highlight Presidents Day books the week leading up to the big holiday. I typically integrate Social Studies in our Language Arts block and a read aloud makes it so easy to do.
Here are some of my favorite Presidents Day books to read in February.
